The Festival Of Lights
Deepawali is the festival of lights that is celebrated across the country with great enthusiasm. It marks the return of Lord Rama to his kingdom of Ayodhya and also the end of the vicious devil, Narakasura. 'Deepa's are lit in all homes and with growing years, several other lighting equipment have come into use. Kids love this festival as it involves the bursting of crackers, loud and colourful, adults rejoice meeting their friends and relatives and ultimately, everyone enjoys Deepawali.
Like all kids, X too was pretty fond of Deepawali. The excitement of bursting the crackers with his friends, the gift sharing with friends and family, the long holidays from school... and the list goes on!
Today, as he looks back, he has a million memories regarding the festival. Even though the memories were there in the corner of his mind, he never bothered to think about them until his good friend P, told him about her recollections of memories regarding Deepawali and that made him remember the days of the past. Those beautiful moments that made up his childhood. The anxiety of choosing the best crackers, the excitement to buy all kinds of crackers from a simple sparkle to the tall rockets that would lighten up the skies when shot! The 100 walas and and the 1000 walas to compete with neighborhood kids and the brightest of the flower pots! The way he'd pester his Dad to help him burst the bombs when he was quite young to burst them all and the impatience he had when his his Mom would not let him go and enjoy with his friends until the Pooje at home was done. The freedom he got when his Mom would say, " Sari hogu" and the way he'd run holding his big bag of crackers!
Yes. All these things are a part of his memory of his innocent childhood that is now lost. That is now hidden. When P told him about her recollections, X too realised that he too had a spectacular reminiscence which he should not lose, no matter what!
Welcome to the blog world :)
